Beyond Our Suffering - Bound to learn the hard way, this is the human condition. There is nothing that can be said to stop us from making mistakes. When I look to myself as a source of ending pain, no matter how many times before I’ve failed. Yaa... // It seems our problems solve themselves... yaa... ...when we look beyond us to those truly in hell. // The more I focus on myself, then the more helpless that I become. So why not erase this point of view? My suffering is trivial.... Beyond our suffering. Yaa... ....compared to those who know real agony. // It seems our problems solve themselves, when we look beyond us to those truly in hell. Lyrics Explanation: In this song “home” is a place of purpose and vision. This song is about losing that sense of purpose and being caught up in the meaningless things of this life, like materialism and the temporary emotions that control our thoughts and actions. As easily as I identify these meaningless things, I often catch myself being emptied into these passionless desires. There is such a strong sense of urgency for everything that we do in life, but how many of these urgent tasks will last long enough to justify our efforts? I began to ask myself that same question while looking out the window beyond the grey walls of our tour van. There are so many places we have gone that I will never forget, but that same van has taken me to countless cities in pursuit of what I will never be able to take with me beyond this life.
The Sound of Truth - We have all heard what we wanted to hear. "Truth" that sounds right to our ears. We have all heard what we wanted to hear. How many times has instinct let us down, never to be thought through, never to be questioned? Yeah... Say what you really mean, when your ambition calls you... calls you. For what use is there... is there in praying, if you will only hear what you want to hear? // We have all heard what we wanted to hear. "Truth" that sounds right to our ears. // We speak of fighting to resist this world, but what about the battle within us? If we have chosen to live against the grain, then why are we all facing the same way? There is no difference between us and them, if we all blindly seek truth from sentiments. // We have all heard what we wanted to hear. "Truth" that sounds right to our ears.
