WORLD TO ASHES - "In Contemplation Of Death" - Biography 2009

World to Ashes began in the beginning of 2005 with Benjamin Possinger and Lorenz Schmidt on guitars, Gernot Wegele on drums and Achim Wiedemann on the mic. Their first songs leaned more towards Hardcore/Metalcore but soon they found out that their heart was more on the metal side. However, Gernot Wegele soon left the band and Achim switched to drums. The gap of a singer was soon filled by Christoph Zacharias who made the band almost complete. In this formation the band played several regional shows. In early summer of 2006 Christian stepped up to try the bass but it turned out that his ambitions didn’t match with ours, so we parted as friends. The vacancy was eventually filled by Sascha Hornberger in spring 2007.

Until that point World to Ashes played several shows in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland with bands like Eluveitie, One Man Army and the Undead Quartet, Endstille, Moribund Oblivion, Crisis Never Ends, Undertow, Slechtvalk, Miseration, Rebellion, Seventh Angel, Darkmoon and Sacrificium.

The motivation for World to Ashes is their passion for intense melodic music as well as the ability to present our thoughts, feelings and experiences in a form that meets their core. With our creation of art, we want to express the things we daily see and experience, the things that surround us, push us, alter us, bring us to the ground and in the end to the grave. Lyrically we mainly broach the issue of the struggles of society as well as suffering, death and dealing with all these things.

In June 2007 the first EP “Of What There Is To Come” was released by World to Ashes through the label Whirlwind Records. Mixing and mastering was done by Roland Böffgen (The Crimson Divine, Absidia R.I.P.). In June 2009 the album “In Contemplation Of Death” will be released by Whirlwind Records. The album was recorded at Studio Hardrive Sounds in Stuttgart. Mastering was done by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.
