Uprise Zine - Fall/Winter 2007 (Issue #08) - "A Plea For Purging" (FREE Digital Issue)
Music - Skateboarding - Art - Faith
November 1st, 2007
During 2006 Uprise Zine founder Dave Darr also launched Holdfast Records as an offshoot of the magazine. Unexpectingly the label grew quite fast and has 13 releases to date. Holdfast Records has helped launch the careers of Through Solace, In Irons, Alcina, Before There Was Rosalyn and other acts. Since the closing of Uprise Zine in 2008, Dave has finished his university studies in marketing. He’s also been moderately active in a two-piece electronica project named Poorly Built Parachute. Their first CD ("Evolution In Color") released July 2008 and their sophomore release ("Tastes Like Sin") is slated for 2009. Recently, Dave helped launch a series of "environmentally conscience" children’s books, coordinating marketing, design/layout, and project management. The first book "Freddie’s Organic Farm" was just released this month. Aside from all of this, he’s been focusing on his marketing company Uprise Media Group and is laying plans for major growth in 2009.
