HUNDREDTH - "When Will We Surrender" - Biography 2010
Hundredth was spawned in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the summer of 2008 by friends Chadwick Johnson, Matt Koontz, Joel Gunter, and Alex Blackwell. The four founding members were not only like-minded in their beliefs, but also shared common musical influences. From day one, everything that the band has done has been fueled by raw passion. After slugging it out in their local scene for a short while, and rounding out the line-up with bassist Michael Raymo, Hundredth had become a highly talked about, full-time touring band all within their first six months of existence.
In January of 2009, the band’s hard work and perseverance paid off when they caught the attention of hardcore giant, Mediaskare Records. With a fresh record deal under their belts, Hundredth reached deep inside themselves and began writing material that was fueled by righteous anger, and packaged with their own brand of progressive/melodic hardcore. After writing much of the new record with the band, guitarist Joel Gunter decided to move on and pursue other ventures. By late summer, after recording at the Mediaskare HQ Studios, the band had completed their debut album entitled When Will We Surrender, which hits stores March 30th, 2010. Every lyric is raw and heartfelt, and is written for a reason. The band was once told that they sound like “the soundtrack to drowning.”
Hundredth has toured all over the United States with the likes of Betrayal, A Plea For Purging, Venia, Saints Never Surrender, Ambush, and Kills and Thrills. The band carries a message of hope and positivity, and feels that nothing can stand against them after what they have been through in the last year. You won’t catch these guys trying to force their convictions on you, as they understand that every band has their own views. Instead, they hope that their refreshing message will be sparked by the raw intensity that is delivered in their live show. The guys aim to stay honest and humble as they travel the world continuing to write, and perform material that means absolutely everything to them.
With the addition of Andrew Minervini on guitar, the group sounds better than ever, and is truly a force to be reckoned with. Do yourself a favor and catch Hundredth on their upcoming US run with American Me, Deez Nuts, Endwell, Suffokate, and Murder Death Kill. It is an experience that will not be soon forgotten.
