June 9th, 2009

(February 23rd, 2009) For Today’s sophomore album on Facedown Records, "Portraits" centers around "the fathers of the faith." Vocalist Mattie Montgomery had this to say about the new album: "We’ve been locked up for over two months now, pouring ourselves into our new album, Portraits. We are excited and proud to say that finally it’s finished! All of our new material is technically, creatively, and spiritually far above anything we’ve put out in the past. You can expect Portraits to be heavier, catchier, and more technical than our previous album Ekklesia and for it to stand with more authority and conviction than ever before." The band will enter the studio on March 2nd to begin tracking the new material with producer Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Once Nothing, Advent). The album will feature special guest vocal spots from Impending Doom and Advent. To watch a live clip of the band playing the new song "Joel (The Watchman)" click here!

FOR TODAY - "Portraits" - Biography 2009

For Today released their debut album Ekklesia in April of 2008. Since that time they have played over 300 shows, sold over 10,000 copies of their debut, and recorded their new album Portraits. Once again they entered The Basement Recording Studio to work with jamie King (Between The Buried and Me, The Human Abstract) and the result is ten tracks of excellently produced metallic hardcore. For Today were one of the main support bands at the sold out Facedown Fest 2009 in April of 2009, and they will continue to be on the road for the rest of 2009. They are confirmed for the 2nd annual "Scream The Prayer" tour this summer that will cover the entire US as well as major summer festivals including Cornerstone, Sonshine, Tom Fest and more.

"For Today,

You see, I have made you into a fortified city, a pillar of iron, a wall of bronze against the whole land – against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests and the people of the land. They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you," says the Lord, "to rescue you."

The commission of this band and every person who takes the name of Jesus for their own is to restore the earth, nation by nation. We are called to nothing less than to bring wholeness, by means of reconciliation to the Creator, to the nation of the underground, the country we live in, and the world around us. We are a voice. We are the hands. We are the feet. We are the physical manifestation of the goodness of God in this fallen world. We are the healing presence of Jesus Christ. We are the transcedent Kingdom of God. We are the power, presence, rule, and reign of Jesus upon the earth. We are his – the workmanship of Yahweh, the God of Peace – Jesus Christ. We are of those who will not settle for anything less than the complete fulfillment of each of His precious promise.

May our praise be in proportion to his glory.
