The heaviest metal band in the world (by sheer mass) has finished their follow up to Total Brutal - get ready for Double Brutal! Not satisfied with the limitations offered by putting out a single disc album, Ahhnold demanded two full CDs full of muscle pumping metal! When asked why they needed two discs and why he thought that was best, he quickly replied, “Two discs made it heavy and brutal enough to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of their women!!!”

Double Brutal is packed with more “juice” than a professional athlete. Disc one features soon to be classics "See You At The Party Richter", and "Let Off Some Steam Bennett." Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold’s take on them, including Metallica’s "Trapped Under Ice" and "Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good" by none other than Megadeth.

Austrian Death Machine guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: “Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I’ve been busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called Double Brutal. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover.”

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE - "Double Brutal" - Biography 2009

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis and California frontman Ahhnold are back for round two with the release of Austrian Death Machine’s Double Brutal, the follow up to 2008’s highly successful (and, well, brutal) release, Total Brutal. With an appetite for all things barbarous, Austrian Death Machine ups the ante with Double Brutal. This two-disc goliath features one disc of all new heavy tracks in the tradition of all of Ahhnold’s greatest cinematic moments and a second disc of cover songs including songs originally performed by Metallica, Megadeth, Misfits, Judas Priest and more, with cover art once again being tackled by Ed Repka (Megadeth, Death, NOFX, Nuclear Assault, etc).

“Sometimes being stereotypically metal is fitting. I’m not trying to break new ground; I just want to break people’s necks... and have fun doing it." comments Austrian Death Machine creator Tim Lambesis. For anyone who doubts the barbaric and brutal nature of Double Brutal, rest assured this album truly is doubly brutal. How can anyone argue Double Brutal’s pure savageness and testosterone filled manliness when you have Ahhnold, the strongest man in the universe and leader of many a mission filled with exploding chests, eyes bursting out of their sockets, and hands down the most classic one-liners you will ever hear, AND Tim Lambesis who can do a one-armed push-up while listening to Survivors ‘Eye of the Tiger’ (it’s true, I’ve seen it)?

As I Lay Dying-Frontmann Tim Lambesis und Kaliforniens Frontmann Ahhnold kehren mit der Veröffentlichung von Austrian Death Machine’s Double Brutal, dem Nachfolger des erfolgreichen (und, ähem, brutalen) Debütalbums Total Brutal, für Runde zwei zurück. Mit einem grossen Appetit für alles Barbarische legen Austrian Death Machine die Meßlatte mit Double Brutal deutlich höher an. Dieser massive Doppeldecker enthält eine CD mit komplett neuen Songs, die ganz in der Tradition von Ahhnolds größten Filmmomenten stehen, und eine zweite CD mit Coversongs von Metallica, Megadeth, Misfits, Judas Priest und vielen mehr, während das Albumcover einmal mehr von Ed Repka (Megadeth, Death, NOFX, Nuclear Assault, etc.) entworfen wurde.

“Manchmal passt es einfach, die Metal-Stereotypen auszuleben. Ich versuche hiermit nicht, in musikalisches Neuland aufzubrechen, ich möchte lediglich den Leuten das Genick brechen... und dabei Spaß haben,” kommentiert Austrian Death Machine-Gründer Tim Lambesis. Im Endeffekt sind Austrian Death Machine immer noch schnell, immer noch angepisst und immer noch brutal. Außerdem enthält weiterhin jeder Song ein Gitarrensolo. Double Brutal betritt also den gleichen Pfad wie Total Brutal, indem es dem Hörer folgende Ingredienzen offeriert:
 
- konstant schnelles Tempo, das sich bestens für einen Circle-Pit eignet
- der typische Aufbau bis hin zu einem Breakdown, bei dem jeder weiß, wie er zu moshen hat
- klassische Mitsingparts, um sich zusammenzurotten und mit zu grölen
 
Und die Hauptkomponente würde ich natürlich auch nicht vergessen. Richtig wütend klingende Klischeevocals!

Leute, es geht darum, eine Finanzkrise zu lösen.

Austrian Death Machine creator and musical madman Tim Lambesis comments on the new single "I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your Motorcycle":
“My goal with this song is to get people to sing along to this classic line while filling in the gaps with brutal metal elements I believe are tried and true. Some bands try to write songs that are outside the box, and some bands just want to box so we can punch other people in the face and call it a sport. Regardless of whether or not you want to be in or outside of the box, I hope everyone enjoys this song from Double Brutal."

Tim Lambesis comments on their cover of Motörhead’s "Iron Fist":
“Ahhnold and I were able to put together an entire CD full of great cover songs related to his movies. Since we released one song from the originals disc already, we figured it was time for everyone to hear a cover as well. Even now you’ve only heard less than 1/10 of the album, so make sure to pick up the whole thing”

Metallica’s James Hetfield in Revolver Magazine:
“I know this record’s meant to be a joke, but Austrian Death Machine’s really funny, and the music is pretty good. Even if they’re taking a piss.”

The track "Who Told You, You Could Eat My Cookies" was inspired by the Arnie movie Jingle All The Way: “I was so excited people thought my vocals sounded like cookie monster that I jumped at the chance to write a song about COOKIES!” comments Tim.

The last job I had before I played music full time was working in the warehouse of a furniture store and it was highly unlikely that I would have moved out of the warehouse since my boss told me the customers might think I look weird. Anyway, I tell you this story because you have given me the chance to do what I love for a living and make enough money to finish my college degree in the midst of all these crazy tours I’ve been on. On a side note, my degree is in philosophy and religion, so I enjoy a good conversation as much as I love being ignorant while writing ADM songs. However, you can be confident that there will be nothing of any depth and substance on the record because every serious guy like myself needs a good balance of ignorant fun. Now get to the choppa!

However, when I first recorded all of these songs they needed some clean up work since I’m too stubborn to actually practice my parts before I record them. So, I guess you can say that there are some unofficial members who contributed to making sure this record didn’t sound like balls. I also can’t play lead guitar to save my life, so Mark MacDonald and a bunch of my friends helped so Ahhnold wouldn’t crush me.
