Status of BandsOnFire.com
October 22nd, 2009, by Tobe
As most of you probably know (or maybe not), this website is run by one person - me (Tobias Reiss, also known as Tobe, which is pronounced Toby). I live in Germany near Nuremberg. A helping hand with the shows section comes from Nathanael, while Mathias occassionally supports me with graphic related things when needed.
Now, you’ve probably noticed that in the last weeks and months there weren’t as much news, updates or presentations posted on the site as there used to be in early 2009. This is because of a few different reasons.
First off, I’m in the process of finding a new webmaster that will help me with the technical progress for the site that is long long overdue. These changes on the site have been planned for a long time but haven’t been able to be realized up to this point. If I can’t find a new webmaster I will post it as a public request, but for now please pray that these issue(s) can be solved soon, as it is the very foundation for the future of this website.
The second reason is, because I want to continue serving you with this website (which means time that I can invest), I have recently started a part-time job at a wharehouse. However, since this job is quite demanding physically, so far it has left me less time to work on the site as a result of the physical exhaustion. This - combined with the serious health problems I’ve already had before starting the new part-time job and which haven’t gotten any better so far - has prevented me from investing time and energy into the site like I was able to before.
The third reason for lack of content on the site - believe it or not - often times also is the lack of communication by labels, bands, or other people in the music industry to make available material that would allow them to get free promotion on the site in time. Something I don’t understand, especially in these kind of difficult economic times, but I mean this more as an encouragement for these parties rather than a reproach.
As far as you the visitors of BandsOnFire go, in the future it will be necessary for every (!) single one of you to support BandsOnFire, in order to keep the site alive. While there will be different ways for you to support the site in the future, you can already do this now by sending donations. These donations will be used directly for new improvements on the site that will be for your benefits, once the webmaster issue has been resolved (which is hopefully soon).
On an immediate matter, for the next ten days there won’t be many news or updates (if any) on the site, as I will be tour-managing and driving Becoming The Archetype on their second European tour. If any of you in Europe will be at one of these shows, please come and say hi. I’d love to meet all of you guys and gals face to face!
Until then. Speak to you soon, brothers and sisters!
United by Christ,
–Tobe
