P.O.D. are currently in the middle of pre-production and have just posted a video on their new homepage offering all the Warriors around the world an exclusive look into the recording of their new yet un-titled record. The video features sound clips of new songs and shows the guys in the house they're doing pre-production with producer Greg Fidelman.

In December the band furthermore was presented a plague for 1.3 million worldwide sales of their latest album "Payable on Death", their first record with guitarist Jason Truby. This was their message to the Warriors about the award in their recent newsletter:

"...More importantly, it represents a very special gift from you, our Warrior family from around the globe.

THANK YOU.

We are humbled and grateful.

Know that we will continue to do music our way... with an ear to the streets. Music from the heart, for the people. NO COMPROMISE.

7 million records later, we never would have imagined this.......

After their EP "The Pulse Is Overrated" on Harvest Earth Records in 2004 Winter Solstice are now ready to hit the mainstream with their upcoming Metal Blade debut "The Fall Of Rome", coming out on March 7th! Similar to their friends and labelmates As I Lay Dying (whose singer Tim Lambesis also has a guest appearance on the album) Winter Solstice deliver a sound with "a lot of melodic catchiness" - "driving and fast, keeping on beating you down with very few breaks in the action!"

Check out the press info for the record here (English) and here (German) and then listen to their song "Following Calligula"! These young guys bring you the metal that may stick in your head for quite a while. Definitely looking forward to this record!

I just wanted to ask everybody who reads the news on here to pray for Daniel, the singer of Opposition Of One, that he may recover health and leave behind the sickness that holds him back to play the shows with his band. The "Pfeiffersche Drüsenfieber" he got is not very funny and with regard to their upcoming shows and the US-tour in March I wanted to encourage you to pray for Daniel's recovering! Jesus is our Healer. Today and forever!! Please keep him in your prayers!! Thank you!

Read two MxPx DVD Reviews in German here and here, the latter being written by myself. MxPx have also posted about the actual reasons the Europe tour had been cancelled:

"While it is true that there were dates for Europe posted on the MxPx Tour page, those dates were somehow posted prematurely and we apologize for that. The tour was almost confirmed and then we got news that some of the promoters were shuffling dates and venues to avoid conflict with other tours going through Europe at the same time. For example: Green Day, Good Charlotte. The end result was that the MxPx tour got longer and longer with big holes in the schedule... It had come to the point where it was going to interfere with the time scheduled for the band to record the new record due out mid 2005. Management made the decision to postpone Europe and is hoping to have it rescheduled for late Winter or Spring of 2005."

Extol decided to name their upcoming new album "Blueprint" - scheduled to arrive in stores in Europe on February 21st via Century Media! A release date for North America is yet to be announced. Following was posted by the band on their website:

"Extol´s fourth full-length album is now officially entitled Blueprint (short for The Blueprint Dives). It will be released February 21st in Europe, whereas a date for the States is yet to be confirmed. There will be a very special opportunity for you to check out the sample song "Gloriana" on the Century Media compilation-cd "Metal For The Masses Vol. 3". The cd can already now be found for sale at the store Hot Topic in the States!

At the moment, lots of things are stirring in the Extol-camp. Final touches to the album cover are laid down by Asterik Studios in Seattle, USA. A music video for the track "Pearl" from the upcoming Extol album will be recorded in Trondheim, Norway this week. A brand new web-site is under construction. A new t-shirt based on the song "26 Miles From Marathon" has been designed and can now be ordered online, so be sure to check out the merchandise section. To support the new album we are planning the most extensive worldwide touring from Extol to date, and can already reveal that several shows have been booked.

We will get back to you with more details as these things develop, so stay tuned everyone. We believe 2005 will become a very special and exciting year for Extol, and of course right now we can´t wait to get the record out and ourselves on the road to meet you people!!!"

MTV.com just released an article about P.O.D.´s studio progress. They hope to have Damien Marley (Bob Marley´s son) and maybe even Jay-Z make guest appearances. So far the guys have recorded 24 songs, expecting to release the album around springtime. Talking about the sound of the new material drummer Wuv states:
"We probably brought it back more to the old-school P.O.D., like the early '90s stuff that we were putting out. We had a vision of the style we wanted to go back to — more heavy but with a lot of hip-hop and reggae influence like our older albums used to have."

"When the band sets up shop in San Francisco in mid-January, it'll be working with Greg Fidelman, who's engineered albums for artists including Slipknot, System of a Down, Weezer, Jet and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fidelman will step into the role of co-producer for the first time on the P.O.D. project."

The P.O.D. sound of the early´90s featured their album "BROWN", which was kind of paving the way for the success the boys would gain the following years. Therefore I´m gladly remembering their old-school sound and anticipating another great P.O.D. record. Definitely looking forward to their new stuff!
